Greetings GD fans,

Gord recently completed an interview with Comes With A Smile, a unique UK music magazine, where enthusiasm and great writing replaces the trend-driven flavour of the mainstream music press. Beautifully bound, with a creative layout, the magazine also includes a full-length compilation CD of previously unreleased tracks with every copy.

The current issue includes a feature interview with Gord and the cover CD includes an alternative version of "Christmastime In Toronto." Other artists featured in this issue and on the CD include, Willard Grant Conspiracy, M Ward and The Weakerthans.

For more information on how to order, or subscribe online (including PayPal), go to: www.comeswithasmile.com

Recent issues have featured interviews with artists such as Guided By Voices, Vic Chesnutt, Sloan, Grandaddy, Calexico, Pernice Bros., Sparklehorse and Hawksley Workman, to name a few. The magazine also features a range of lesser-known, but no less worthy, up and coming acts.

Have a great holiday season,
WA staff

Greetings from Wiener Art Records and Gord Downie.

Today we officially launch the "Battle of the Nudes" site. We've got the complete skinny on BOTN. Have a look and let us know what you think. Battle of the Nudes was produced by Gord Downie and Dale Morningstar with Dave Clark & Josh Finlayson. The songs on BOTN are:

Into The Night
Figment
Christmastime In Toronto
Willow Logic
Pascal's Submarine
11th Fret
Who By Rote
Steeplechase
More Me Less You
We're Hardcore
Pillform # 2
Pillform # 1

Here's a brief excerpt from the official record biography, which you can read here at the site.

...Nudes unfolds from a whisper to a roar and back again, chronicling the post-punk ping-pong match between growing up and growing apart (the wistful opening track "Into the Night"), identity both real and imagined (the cinematic blast of "Figment"), the art of disengaging and reconnecting (the fuzzed-out cowpunk of "11th Fret", the haunting "More Me Less You"), and the outright denial of indisputable culpability (the deceptively bouncy singalong lead single, "Pascal's Submarine").

Here's a run-down of other items you need to know about Gord's new record and summer touring plans.

The first single is Pascal's Submarine. If you have not heard PS on the radio yet you can either request it from your favourite radio station or visit the BOTN site to hear it now. Final editing is underway for the video of Pascal's Sub. Mike Clattenburg, who directed The Darkest One for The Tragically Hip, also directed Pascal. Expect to see photos taken at the video shoot on Gord's site soon. MuchMoreMusic and other stations should get the video next week.

While visiting the site stop by the Song Insights & Lyrics pages for Gord's notes regarding the album title and observations about each track. There are intriguing interviews with collaborators Dale Morningstar, Dave Clark and Josh Finlayson to read as well.

Need to advance order this CD? The site has links to Canadian and American sites you can pre-order Battle of the Nudes from in addition to Gord's own on-line store. The GD store also carries copies of the Coke Machine Glow CD and Poetry Book and CMG shirts. New BOTN shirts will be available at tour stops and at the store. Stay tuned for more details.

Bonus Live Tracks

After you pick up your copy of Battle of the Nudes go to the website address listed on the CD case to download exclusive live material recorded on Gord's last solo tour.

Gord's Bootlegs

Gord innovates again. All Gord Downie & The Country Of Miracles shows will be recorded and made available for download within a week of the shows. Complete details of this innovative project will be released shortly.

Gord Downie & The Country Of Miracles On Tour

As you can see from the dates listed below the tour for Battle of the Nudes is more extensive than for Coke Machine Glow and there is a good mix of outdoor festivals and club shows. More dates will be added shortly. Stand by.

Some good cities and organizations have funded a number of shows to make them free for you.

The first free show is Thursday June 5th (5 to 8-8:30 PM) at the brand new Dundas Square at Yonge and Dundas in Toronto. Performing before Gord are All Systems Go, The Salads and Cuff the Duke.

The next free show is on Canada Day at MuchMoreMusic (299 Queen St West). This is going to be quite cool. Queen St will be blocked off for the show and the concert will air live on MMM at 9 PM. Gord and the band will also take questions from fans and talk about Battle of the Nudes.

The final free show is Thursday July 3rd (5 to 9 PM) in Buffalo as part of the City of Buffalo's Summer Concert Series in Lafayette Square.
